Vietnam’s leading telecom operators are accelerating nationwide 5G rollout, with Viettel, VNPT, and MobiFone having deployed approximately 11,000 5G base stations, now covering all provinces and reaching 26% of the population. Viettel has surpassed 6 million 5G users and aims to reach 10 million by year-end, while installing 20,000 additional base stations and expanding its B2B 5G application ecosystem. VNPT’s VinaPhone reports 3 million active users and is focusing on strategic 5G deployment in industrial parks and transport hubs. MobiFone, with over 2.5 million users, is targeting full commune-level coverage. However, 5G uptake still faces headwinds due to reliance on 4G and limited network momentum in rural areas.
