DECREASING NUMBER OF STORES IN POLAND

Data from Dun & Bradstreet Poland shows that the number of stores on the Polish market in the first half of 2025 shrank by over 0.5 % compared to the end of 2024, to around 365,200 outlets. The largest declines were recorded in the clothing and footwear retail sector, as well as drugstores, auto parts stores, used clothing, computers or toys. The number of outlets fell in 18 of the 28 industries monitored by Dun & Bradstreet. In other sectors, the number of stores increased, including a 3.2 % increase for vegetable stores. There was also an increase in bakeries, liquor stores, home appliances, sporting goods, medical supplies and jewelry outlets. Experts attribute it to changes in Polish society – digitization of life on the one hand and attachment to traditional shopping for bakery and vegetables on the other. (ICE VARSAVIA)
