DEPUTY PM&FM MEETS WITH THAI-LAO-CAMBODIAN FOREIGN MINISTERS ON AMM 58 SIDELINES
On the sidelines of AMM 58 in Kuala Lumpur, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn held bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia to reinforce regional ties and cooperation. With Thailand, both sides reaffirmed commitments to elevate economic and political ties under the comprehensive strategic partnership, targeting US$25 billion in trade and collaboration on innovation, energy transition, and the “Three Connections” strategy. Meeting with Lao FM Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Sơn welcomed the 100.4% surge in bilateral trade and stressed infrastructure links, notably Wharf No.3 at Vũng Áng port. Both sides agreed to deepen defence ties and coordinate for major anniversaries in 2025. In talks with Cambodian FM Prak Sokhonn, Sơn welcomed continued trade momentum and reaffirmed support for border cooperation and Vietnamese investments. All parties stressed peaceful dialogue amid Thailand–Cambodia tensions and reaffirmed ASEAN unity on regional and East Sea issues. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
