According to recent data from the Port of Beirut (PoB), the import of cars through the port ended in the first four months (4M) of 2025, its downward trend that was noted since the start of 2024. This trend came following a spike in imports during 2023 as importers had rushed to import stock before the exchange rate on customs were rationalized.  In detail, imports of cars through PoB recorded 13,664 cars in 4M-2025, up from 11,890 cars in 4M-2024. This shows a year-on-year increase of 14.9% in the import of cars through PoB during the period.  It is worth noting that this increase comes following a 43.4% drop year-on-year in the import of cars through PoB between 4M-2023 and 4M-2024. On the other hand, between 4M-2022 and 4M-2023, the number of car imports through PoB jumped by 141.5% reaching 21,024 cars in the latter, up from 8,705 in the former. (ICE BEIRUT)
