EU EASES SCHENGEN VISA ACCESS FOR INDONESIA
The meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels marked a breakthrough in Indonesia-EU relations. Key outcomes included the launch of the EU’s "visa cascade" policy for Indonesia, granting eligible citizens long-term, multi-entry Schengen visas on their second visit. This move is expected to enhance opportunities for Indonesians to invest, study, and travel across Europe. Ursula emphasized the strengthening of people-to-people ties, while Prabowo expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception and viewed the new visa policy as a symbol of mutual respect and growing cooperation.Significantly, both leaders announced the conclusion of the stalled Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA), a free trade pact that had been in negotiation for a decade. President Prabowo highlighted Europe’s role as a global leader in science, technology, and finance, positioning it as a strategic partner for Indonesia’s development and ASEAN-wide stability.Source: https://news.republika.co.id/berita/szc6ys484/kepada-prabowo-uni-eropa-umumkan-permudah-indonesia-dapatkan-visa-schengen-part2 (ICE GIACARTA)
