Kazakhstan aims for $450 bln GDP growth by 2029 - prime ministerKazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said Tuesday that the country's plans to expand its economy to $450 billion by 2029 are challenging but achievable."Yes, our goal is to increase gross domestic product (GDP) to $450 billion by 2029," Bektenov said at a Tuesday press conference.He noted that Kazakhstan's GDP reached $286 billion in 2024, and with current growth trends, the country expects to surpass $300 billion this year."Given our economic growth trajectory in the coming years, reaching $450 billion is quite possible," the prime minister said.To achieve this, Kazakhstan is focusing on industrial development, economic diversification, and high-value-added manufacturing, Bektenov added."A major program through Baiterek Holding Company has been launched, which is expected to bring an additional 8 trillion tenge in investments to the economy this year. Overall, we plan to initiate about 190 industrial projects this year with a total value of 1.5 trillion tenge. This is in addition to the large-scale projects that will be implemented through Baiterek," he said.The National Bank of Kazakhstan earlier revised its 2025 GDP forecast upward to 5-6%, citing strong domestic demand and rising investment.President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had previously stated that economic growth would reach at least 5.5% this year.Kazakhstan’s GDP grew 6% in January-May 2025, following a 4.8% expansion in 2024 and 5.1% in 2023.
