KAZAKHSTAN-TARIFFS-U.S.-PLANS
Kazakhstan plans no retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods in response to Washington's measures - PMKazakhstan will not impose retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports despite Washington's upcoming trade restrictions, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said Tuesday."There are no such plans. Let me be clear about that," Bektenov stated during a press briefing. The prime minister emphasized that approximately 95% of Kazakhstan's exports to the U.S. will remain unaffected by the new American trade policy. However, he confirmed that negotiations between the two nations are ongoing."The vast majority of our export volume, 95%, falls outside these new regulations," Bektenov explained. "We therefore foresee no significant adverse effects on our trade relations. That said, we remain in active dialogue with our U.S. partners to address these developments."The clarification comes after Kazakhstan received formal notification on July 7 regarding U.S. plans to implement a blanket 25% tariff on all Kazakh exports effective August 1, 2025. The measure forms part of broader U.S. trade adjustments affecting multiple nations. (ICE ALMATY)
