INDONESIAN TEXTILE MANUFACTURERS EYE 60% EXPORT BOOST TO EU VIA IEU-CEPA
Indonesia’s textile industry is poised for a major export surge—potentially up to 60%—once the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) takes effect. The Indonesian Fiber and Yarn Manufacturers Association (APSyFI) sees strong promise in European markets, though acknowledges the gains may not fully offset potential losses in the U.S. due to tariff pressures. Initial growth is projected at 30%, with increases above 50% expected within two years through adjustments to certificate of origin (COO) compliance, which is key to securing zero-percent tariffs. COO rules require products to use raw materials from Indonesia or the EU, ensuring full tariff benefits and creating momentum for domestic upstream and midstream industries. APSyFI also highlighted the importance of meeting green industry standards tied to carbon emissions and sustainable processing—critical for European acceptance. If the agreement delivers, Indonesian textiles could better compete globally, positioning themselves alongside manufacturers from China, India, and Vietnam.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20250715/257/1893345/produsen-tekstil-bidik-peningkatan-ekspor-ke-eropa-60-jika-ieu-cepa-berlaku (ICE GIACARTA)
