Construction of Tobyl transport and logistics hub begins in KostanayAn official launch ceremony for the construction of the new Tobyl Transport and Logistics Complex (TLC) with a designed capacity exceeding 11 million tonnes of cargo per year was held in Kostanay, the press service of the republic's government reported."We are not just building a logistics hub – we are laying a solid foundation for the new economic geography of the country. Tobyl will become an intelligent platform where logistics, digitalization, education, and industry converge," Deputy Prime Minister Yermek Kosherbayev is quoted as saying at the launch ceremony.According to the press service, the project is being implemented with the participation of Kedentransservice JSC and with the support of the Industry Development Fund JSC. The logistics complex will cover an area of 133.6 hectares, with a total investment of 64 billion tenge. The designed capacity of the Tobyl TLC is up to 400,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) per year, or over 11 million tonnes of cargo. The complex will create 500 new jobs.The complex will be integrated into international transport corridors linking China, Central Asia, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, and Europe. Growth in freight traffic is expected both on the Northern Kazakhstan – Southern Urals route and in the direction of China.The complex will feature terminals, warehouses, customs clearance facilities, IT and service zones – based on the "all-in-one-place" principle. A digital system for real-time cargo tracking is planned. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2027."The volume of transit shipments through Kazakhstan in the first half of 2025 amounted to 16.8 million tonnes, a 4% increase YoY. The launch of the Tobyl TLC is expected to provide additional momentum to these indicators in the coming years," the statement notes. (ICE ALMATY)
