GOVERNMENT AIMS TO CREATE 101,000 JOBS IN THE COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION TEC
Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat emphasized the pivotal role of the ICT sector in driving economic growth, underscoring the government’s strategic commitment to this vital industry. Speaking at the inauguration of the new offices of the Information and Communications Technology Association (int@j), Smeirat highlighted that the ICT sector has benefited from the direct patronage of His Majesty the King since the beginning of his reign, with int@j among the first institutions to embrace and advance this vision. The Minister noted that under the Economic Modernization Vision, the government aims to empower the private sector across various domains. Targets include raising employment in the ICT sector from 45,000 to 101,000 jobs by 2033, and boosting its contribution to the GDP from JD2.9 billion to JD4.2 billion. (ICE AMMAN)
