INDONESIA: FOUR OIL AND GAS PROJECTS ONSTREAM, 11 MORE BY YEAR-END

SKK Migas, Indonesia's Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Task Force, is pushing to increase national oil and gas production by bringing 15 new projects online in 2025. Four of these projects are already operational, with the remaining 11 expected to start production before the year's end. The four projects currently in operation include expansions by Medco E&P Grissik, Medco E&P Natuna, and Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), as well as a project by ExxonMobil Cepu Ltd. SKK Migas plans for three more projects to go online in the third quarter of this year, which is crucial for the government's long-term goal of reaching oil production of 1 million barrels per day and gas production of 12 billion standard cubic feet per day by 2030. The 15 projects have a combined capital expenditure of $560 million and are projected to produce about 41,922 barrels of oil per day and 324 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. This strategy is part of a broader shift by Indonesia to focus on higher-capital expenditure fields with large potential reserves, moving away from smaller discoveries. This shift is meant to increase the likelihood of finding "giant" oil fields (those with at least 500 million barrels of oil). Additionally, SKK Migas reported a significant increase in investment realization in the first half of 2025, reaching $7.19 billion, a 28.6% jump from the same period last year. This puts the agency on track to meet its full-year investment target of $16.5 billion to $16.9 billion.Source: https://www.thejakartapost.com/business/2025/07/28/four-oil-and-gas-projects-onstream-11-more-by-year-end-skk-migas.html (ICE GIACARTA)
