VĨNH LONG PROVINCE SEEKS TO DEVELOP DIVERSE TOURISM EXPERIENCES

Following its administrative merger with Bến Tre and Trà Vinh, the newly expanded Vĩnh Long Province now boasts a 130km coastline, over 6,200 sq.km in area, and a population of nearly 4.2 million, unlocking vast potential for tourism development. The province features abundant orchards, river networks, cultural heritage, and historical sites. Tourism officials aim to create inland-to-sea routes and promote related services such as accommodation, cuisine, and transport. Coastal areas like Thạnh Hải offer natural beauty, cultural landmarks like Ông Nam Hải Temple, and memorials such as the Hồ Chí Minh Trail at Sea. The merger gives Vĩnh Long the country’s largest coconut-growing area and a significant Khmer population, both contributing to its unique tourism appeal. Travel companies are developing new products like floating coconut market tours and eco-friendly packages that celebrate local culture, nature, and history. In the first half of 2025, the province attracted over 5.1 million visitors—including 676,000 foreigners—and earned VNĐ4 trillion (US$153 million) in revenue. Vĩnh Long’s unspoiled environment supports eco-tourism, community-based tourism, and agro-tourism. The province also seeks closer cooperation with Đồng Tháp, Tây Ninh, and Cần Thơ, aiming to become a key destination and travel hub in the Mekong Delta. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
