UAE UNVEILS MAJOR SCHOOL REFORMS FOR 2025–2026: AI CURRICULUM INTRODUCED

The UAE Ministry of Education has unveiled sweeping reforms for the 2025–2026 academic year, including the launch of the country's first national Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum, reduced centralized exams, and the opening of nine new schools. Under the new assessment policy, centralized exams will only take place in the first and third semesters, with school-based assessments replacing the second. Project-based learning has been expanded to all Cycle 2 students, while new national proficiency tests in Arabic, English, and mathematics will be rolled out for Grades 4–11. The reforms also strengthen Arabic and Islamic education, introducing daily literacy sessions for younger students and a new Grade 1 Arabic baseline assessment. Around 1,000 teachers will deliver AI lessons across all grades to prepare students for future careers. Infrastructure readiness includes nine new schools for 25,000 students, 800 new teachers, 5,500 buses, 10 million textbooks, and 47,000 laptops. The Ministry is also launching a new PE, sports, and health program, and rolling out initiatives to boost parental involvement and teacher training. Officials said the reforms aim to enhance learning outcomes, foster innovation, and align UAE education with future skills and global competitiveness. (ICE DUBAI)
