IRAQ APPROVES HOUSING PROJECTS IN BAGHDAD
Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani chaired a meeting of the Higher Committee for Reconstruction and Investment on Sunday, focusing on major housing initiatives in Baghdad. The meeting reviewed the economic model for the New Sadr City project, which in its first phase will deliver 11,000 housing units, alongside commercial areas, green spaces, and full infrastructure.Al-Sudani stressed that the project is a core part of government plans to address the housing crisis in the capital, and that units will be reserved exclusively for residents of Sadr City, based on the 2024 census, with subsidised pricing to match citizens' purchasing power. The committee also resolved the long-delayed housing project for employees of the Iraqi Media Network, approving its implementation in recognition of the staff's efforts and sacrifices since 2003. The Prime Minister instructed that the investment licence be issued quickly and all procedures expedited. (ICE AMMAN)
