MOFPI APPROVES OVER 1.44 LAKH FOOD PROCESSING PROJECTS NATIONWIDE
In an effort to strengthen and develop the food processing industry across India, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing three key schemes: the Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI), and the PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme. These initiatives aim to provide financial, technical, and business support to food processing enterprises across the country, including the state of Bihar. All three schemes are demand-driven and not region-specific, allowing nationwide implementation. MoFPI offers subsidies and incentives to eligible applicants, particularly encouraging participation from entrepreneurs in the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. Under the PMFME scheme, a credit-linked capital subsidy of 35% of the eligible project cost, with a maximum limit of ₹10 lakh per unit, is provided to individual micro enterprises. As of June 30, 2025, 144,517 micro food processing enterprises have been approved for assistance under PMFME. In addition to financial support, the scheme also emphasizes capacity building. MoFPI has provided training to 116,666 beneficiaries—including trainers, district resource persons, and entrepreneurs—across the country under Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDP+) and product-specific skilling modules to meet industry requirements. Projects approved under PMKSY and PLISFPI also include enterprises from the MSME category, further bolstering the growth of small businesses in the food processing sector. In Bihar, MoFPI has approved 13 projects under PMKSY, 7 proposals under PLISFPI, and 25,349 proposals under PMFME as of June 30, 2025. This information was shared by Shri Ravneet Singh, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.https://www.foodinfotech.com/mofpi-approves-over-1-44-lakh-food-processing-projects-nationwide/ (ICE MUMBAI)
