Grain Union maintains Kazakh food flour export forecast, raises feed flour projectionsKazakhstan's Grain Union has maintained its 2024/25 marketing year (September-August) export forecast for food-grade flour at 1.8 million tonnes while increasing feed flour projections to 2  million tonnes, according to the union's analytics committee chair Evgeny Karabanov. In a Telegram post, Karabanov reported food flour exports reached 1.5 million tonnes from September 2024 through June 2025 - a 3.3% year-over-year decline. Reduced imports were noted in Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, while Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China increased purchases. The union revised feed flour export estimates upward from 1.85 million to 2.05 million tonnes for the current marketing year, with 1.7 million tons already shipped,  a 210% increase over last season's total. China accounted for 98% of feed flour demand."Barring regulatory changes, feed flour exports to China could exceed 2.5 million tonnes next marketing year," Karabanov noted, adding this may require importing up to 1.5 million tonnes of additional grain from Russia's border regions.
