Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively promoting the Sidoarjo Halal Industrial Zone (KIH) as part of its broader strategy to position the country as a global halal hub. The zone, along with similar facilities in Banten and Riau, is designed to support halal product manufacturing with end-to-end infrastructure, including halal laboratories and logistics centers. The government is also developing a national halal product assurance system (JPH) to standardize halal certification and ensure compliance with Islamic law. These efforts are part of a coordinated push to attract investment and strengthen Indonesia’s halal industry through strategic partnerships and policy support. The Sidoarjo KIH has already drawn interest from investors in South Korea, Malaysia, and Japan, with diplomatic outreach aimed at boosting both foreign direct investment and outbound halal exports. As a designated Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the KIH offers tax incentives such as holidays and allowances, making it more attractive than non-SEZ areas. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) are involved in facilitating investment flows, while the government continues to refine its national strategy for halal industry development.
