AUGUST INFLATION RISE SEEN DUE TO HIGHER FOOD AND ENERGY PRICES

HIGHER energy and food prices likely drove inflation up in August but not to the extent of breaching the central bank’s target, analysts said. The median forecast in a Manila Times poll was 1.2 percent, an increase from July’s six-year low of 0.9 percent. If realized, inflation will have fallen below the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) 2.0- to 4.0-percent goal for a sixth straight month. The central bank late on Friday also said that the rate could have edged up to a range of 1.0-1.8 percent in August due to the impact of bad weather on food prices.   https://www.manilatimes.net/2025/09/01/business/top-business/august-inflation-rise-seen-due-to-higher-food-and-energy-prices/2176532 (ICE SINGAPORE)
