INDONESIA'S INDUSTRY MINISTRY TARGETS 18.66% MANUFACTURING GDP CONTRIBUTION
The Indonesian Ministry of Industry has set a target for the manufacturing sector to contribute 18.66% to Indonesia’s GDP by 2026, slightly below the 18.67% recorded in the first half of 2025. This goal is part of a broader strategy to support national economic growth toward 8% by 2029. Despite a decade-long decline in manufacturing’s share of GDP—from 20.08% in 2014—Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita reaffirmed its role as the backbone of the economy. The ministry also aims for non-oil and gas processing industry exports to contribute 74.85% to total national exports in 2026, a realistic target given their 80% share in the January–July 2025 period. The Minister highlighted the sector’s resilience, noting that non-oil and gas manufacturing grew 5.60% year-on-year in Q2 2025, outpacing national economic growth. The sector contributed 16.92% to GDP and absorbed IDR 366.6 trillion in investment—39% of the national total—while employing 19.6 million people. Confidence indicators remain strong, with the Industrial Confidence Index at 53.55 and the PMI at 51.5, although utilization rates averaged just 62.10%. To meet future targets, the ministry plans to expand market access through international cooperation and global promotion of Indonesian products.Source: https://industri.kontan.co.id/news/kemenperin-targetkan-kontribusi-manufaktur-1866-ke-pdb-di-2026 (ICE GIACARTA)
