Uber users may soon be able to book more than just cars—think helicopters and air taxis—directly from the app. The ride-hailing giant announced that customers will be able to reserve flights with Blade, a service offering helicopter and seaplane routes across New York, the Hamptons, and southern Europe. The integration follows Joby Aviation's acquisition of Blade in August, which brought all of Blade's US and European passenger operations under Joby's umbrella. Joby, a pioneer in electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, is preparing to launch its flying taxi service in Dubai as early as 2026, after running tests in several global cities.For Uber, the moves strengthens its push to become a “super app,” enabling everything from two-wheelers and driverless cars to helicopters and futuristic eVTOL taxis—all in one platform.
