The Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (JPRC) has re-tendered its fourth expansion project—aimed at modernizing the refinery—to pre-qualified companies to compete for its implementation. JPRC CEO Hassan Hiyari stated that work on the project and related negotiations were halted at the end of last year due to the repercussions of geopolitical developments, including the Russian-Ukrainian war and the war in the Gaza Strip. However, he noted that technical and economic studies, as well as preliminary designs, have already been prepared by international companies specializing in such projects. Hiyari confirmed that the project is estimated to cost around $2 billion and aims to meet the growing local demand for petroleum derivatives. (ICE AMMAN)
