INDONESIA'S BATANG SEZ ATTRACTS IDR1.5 TRILLION EV BATTERY INVESTMENT
PT LBM Energi Baru Indonesia Batang, a subsidiary of LBM New Energy and affiliate of global battery leader Lopal Tech, has invested IDR 1.5 trillion in the Industropolis Batang SEZ to bolster Indonesia’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Spanning 31.72 hectares, the facility will be developed in three phases and is set to begin operations by June 2026. Once operational, it will produce 150,000 tons annually of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and FP for export, while employing up to 1,000 local workers. The site will also host Indonesia’s largest R&D center for LFP, supporting innovation in EVs, e-boats, e-motorcycles, and energy storage systems. The agreement was formalized by SEZ President Director Ngurah Wirawan and LBM CEO Washington Feng, who praised Batang’s strategic location and infrastructure. Local officials, including Acting Batang Regency Secretary Sri Purwaningsih, emphasized the investment’s potential to drive inclusive regional development through technology transfer, job creation, and infrastructure enhancement—solidifying Batang’s role in the global green energy ecosystem.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/batang-sez-attracts-rp-15t-ev-battery-investment-from-lbm (ICE GIACARTA)
