Kazakh Prime Minister, UAE's LuLu Group discuss agribusiness projectsKazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov met with the head of a major United Arab Emirates-based retailer Tuesday to discuss plans for building a meat processing plant and a distribution center for agricultural goods in Kazakhstan.The meeting with Yusuff Ali M.A., founder of LuLu Group International, focused on expanding investment in the Central Asian nation's agribusiness sector. The company already imports Kazakh meat and agricultural products. Ali highlighted Kazakhstan's high potential and favorable investment climate as reasons for expanding cooperation. The government press service said state agencies were instructed to support the projects."Agribusiness is a cornerstone of our nation's economy," Bektenov said. "Kazakhstan is committed to expanding this partnership, from establishing joint agro-technoparks and export logistics hubs to developing e-commerce. We have created all the necessary conditions to make this happen," Bektenov was quoted as saying.According to the government press service, Kazakh agricultural products are currently exported to more than 70 countries, and the republic intends to double this figure by tripling productivity in the sector. Following the meeting, relevant government agencies were instructed to provide the necessary support for the implementation of the projects.LuLu Group International is one of the largest retail and distribution companies in Asia and the Middle East, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
