Kazakhstan's national air cargo company to launch in 2026Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin announced plans to establish a national air cargo company in the republic as early as next year."In 2026, a unified digital system, Smart Cargo, will be introduced to provide customs and logistics services, and the national air cargo company will also begin operations," Zhumangarin said at a government meeting on Monday."Taking into account all the measures being taken, the volume of cargo transportation through Kazakhstan is expected to double," he noted.Earlier, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to attract foreign investors to create a national cargo airline in Kazakhstan.As reported, the first cargo airline in Kazakhstan is planned to be established on the basis of the transport and logistics company KTZ Express, a subsidiary of the railway operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).At the first stage, it is planned to launch flights for domestic routes, as well as, under intergovernmental agreements, to countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Turkey, the UAE, and others, which will create a sustainable operational model.A comprehensive business plan is currently being developed. The required investment volume, funding sources, and the possibility of attracting foreign companies will be determined based on the results of this work. (ICE ALMATY)
