KAZAKHSTAN-ROADS-CONNECTIVITY-PROBLEMS

Prime Minister highlights issues with mobile connectivity, shortage of cameras on Kazakhstan's roadsPrime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov highlighted the issues with mobile connectivity on the country's roads and the insufficient level of technical control over road safety."Another problem with rural roads is poor mobile connectivity. We have already discussed this, but there has been no result. For example, on the Almaty-Bishkek and Almaty-Taldykorgan highways, despite internet coverage, drivers constantly complain about 'dead' zones for connectivity. In the event of a road accident, victims are unable to call for help services," Bektenov said at a government meeting on Monday. In this regard, he instructed to accelerate the pace of mobile coverage on the roads.Furthermore, the Prime Minister continued, there is a shortage of video cameras and other technical means to monitor traffic safety on the roads."Somewhere they simply do not work. Local executive bodies of the regions, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, need to increase the number of violation detection cameras in populated areas. On roads of republican significance, hardware-software complexes and unmanned aerial vehicles should be more actively used," Bektenov noted. (ICE ALMATY)
