Kazakhstan to attract 800 bln tenge from EBRD, IBRD for construction of TITR road sectionThe Coordinating Council for Cooperation with International Financial Organizations (IFIs) of Kazakhstan has approved the attraction of financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) for the construction of the "Beyneu - Saksaulsky" highway, the press service of the government of the republic reports.According to the press service, the IFI meeting was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin."Special attention was paid to the construction of the 'Beyneu - Saksaulsky' highway, which will become part of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. On the instruction of the head of state, it is planned to start construction of a new road with a total length of 765 km, including the 'Beyneu - Saksaulsky' and 'Bozoy - Shalkar' sections," the statement said.According to the Ministry of Transport, the completion of the feasibility study and the start of construction are planned for the near future. "The EBRD and IBRD have confirmed their readiness to support the project by sending mandate letters of intent to allocate over 800 billion tenge," the statement notes.The meeting also discussed the project of NC KTZ JSC "Transforming Rail and Connectivity in Kazakhstan (Middle Corridor Development)" for the development of the Trans-Kazakhstan railway corridor, implemented jointly with the IBRD and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).Cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank on the construction of utility infrastructure in special economic and industrial zones was separately considered. According to the forecast of the Ministry of Industry and Construction, providing infrastructure will increase the gross value added of the manufacturing industry by 6.1% by 2030.The "Beyneu - Saksaulsky" highway is considered one of the key elements of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR); it will create a direct transport link between the western and central regions of Kazakhstan, reduce cargo delivery times, and increase the capacity of the TITR.The TITR connects China and Central Asian countries with Europe via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. Its development is aimed at diversifying cargo flows and reducing dependence on traditional transit routes. Kazakhstan plays a central role in the project, providing a land corridor for the transportation of goods to the ports of Aktau and Kuryk on the Caspian Sea. (ICE ALMATY)
