Singapore has placed 5th out of 139 economies in the 2025 Global Innovation Index (GII), marking its third straight year in the top five, according to the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS). It also ranked second in the Southeast Asia, East Asia, and Oceania (SEAO) region. This is also the second year that Singapore has achieved the highest number of top-ranked indicators, securing first place for 10 out of 78 GII indicators. The GII ranking is based on two areas: innovation inputs and innovation outputs.
