KAZAKHSTAN-AI-JOBS

AI puts over 1 million Kazakh jobs at risk, government study warnsArtificial intelligence could replace over one million workers in Kazakhstan, First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Olzhas Anafin said on Thursday."The ministry conducted a study to assess the impact of automation and AI on employment. The analysis of 423 occupational groups showed that approximately 2.2 million, or 25% of the workforce, face moderate to high automation risks. Specifically, generative AI technologies could displace over one million workers," Anafin stated during a roundtable discussion in the Majilis on AI's role in the social sector.Urban centers like Almaty, Astana, and Shymkent are most vulnerable, with up to one-third of jobs potentially affected. However, Anafin predicted a gradual transition rather than mass layoffs, citing Kazakhstan's relatively low labor costs as a factor that may slow corporate adoption of AI automation until it becomes economically compelling. The population of Kazakhstan exceeds 20 million people.
