ACCELERATING DAIRY ALTERNATIVE INNOVATION
According to research firm Circana, over the one year period ending August 10, US retail sales of processed cheese fell 3.6% to $2.57 billion with a severe decline in sales of alternatives to dairy-based cheese, which fell 6% to $91 million. Dairy milk increased 4.6% whereas milk alternative sales fell 3.7%. "The protein gap between plant-based and conventional milks remains." Ingredient innovation is expected in this sector.
