INDONESIA: IDR8 TRILLION IN 2026 BUDGET FOR OPERATION & INFRASTRUCTURE
Indonesia’s Communications and Digital Ministry (Komdigi) will keep its 2026 budget ceiling at IDR8 trillion (US$488 million), far below the IDR20.3 trillion it had requested. The allocation will mainly fund ongoing commitments such as the Palapa Ring, SATRIA-1 satellite, and base transceiver station maintenance under the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI), as well as staff salaries and operational costs. However, the limited budget leaves little room for new initiatives, with projects like the National Data Center in Cikarang still lacking funding. To maximize efficiency, the ministry plans to cut non-essential spending on vehicles, unnecessary travel, and offline meetings, while still allocating resources for essential fieldwork such as radio frequency monitoring. Minister Meutya Hafid emphasized that Komdigi respects the House Budget Committee’s decision and will realign programs to ensure both presidential and ministerial agendas are carried out effectively. The ministry continues to face the dual challenge of sustaining digital transformation momentum and strengthening cybersecurity, while adhering to fiscal discipline amid rising infrastructure demands.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/381117/rp8-trillion-in-2026-budget-for-operation-infrastructure-ministry (ICE GIACARTA)
