KMG, Chevron sign a $130 mln cooperation agreementJSC National Company KazMunayGas (KMG) and Chevron have signed a cooperation agreement on developing local content, personnel training, and competence development in the oil and gas sector, the KMG press service reports.It is noted that the document was signed inNew York between KMG and the Kazakh branch of the American corporation Chevron MunaiGaz Inc."The estimated investment amount under the agreement is about $130 million," the press release states.Under the signed agreement, the companies will focus on strategic interaction in priority areas, including the development of local content, technology integration, and personnel upskilling.As previously reported, cooperation in oil and gas projects was discussed earlier by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Chevron Corporation Chairman and CEO Michael Wirth. The meeting focused on issues related to the implementation of the Tengiz future expansion project, prospects for gas production and processing at Karachaganak, and the development of hydrocarbon supply routes to world markets, including via the Middle Corridor.Chevron owns a 50% share in Tengizchevroil LLP, which is the operator of one of Kazakhstan's largest oil and gas fields, Tengiz. The corporation also owns an 18% share in the international consortium Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. and holds a 15% stake in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) through Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company.
