KAZAKHSTAN-US-ECONOMY-COOPERATION

U.S. interested in developing joint economic projects with Kazakhstan – U.S. Secretary of CommercePresident of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick discussed bilateral trade and economic cooperation, the press service of the head of state reported.Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan places particular importance on developing interaction with the United States, which is one of the republic's key investment partners.The president noted that Kazakhstan has established a favorable regime for foreign investors. According to him, wide opportunities are opening up for American business in a number of sectors, including energy, transport and logistics, digitalization, and the agricultural industry.In turn, the American secretary noted the United States' interest in further developing joint trade, economic, industrial, transport, logistics, and investment projects with Kazakhstan."I am glad that you had a conversation with our president. He conveyed to you that he looks forward to actively working with you," Lutnick is quoted as saying by Tokayev's press service."The potential for cooperation and strengthening our countries' economies is a key factor in developing trade ties and opens broad prospects in the field of critical minerals, where we could direct joint investments," the U.S. Commerce Secretary also noted.As previously reported, as part of Tokayev's working visit to New York, Kazakhstan signed an agreement with Wabtec for the supply of 300 locomotives totaling $4.2 billion.Also, the national telecommunications operator Kazakhtelecom signed an agreement with Amazon Kuiper to create a Kuiper satellite communications hub in Kazakhstan, with infrastructure investments amounting to $200 million.
