Over 86% of staple products on Kazakhstan's shelves are locally made - MinisterMore than 86% of staple goods on store shelves in Kazakhstan are domestically produced, the Ministry of Trade and Integration reported Tuesday.Minister Arman Shakkaliyev, speaking at a government meeting, said "the current law reserves 30% of shelf space for local food products, with similar rules for non-food items under consideration." He cited recent monitoring data showing that the share of Kazakhstani staple goods already exceeds 86%.Shakkaliyev also announced that government support for retailers is now tied to providing an additional 20% of shelf space for domestic products."Measures require "Made in Kazakhstan" sign and penalties for refusing contracts with local producers or delaying payments. Additionally, large retail outlets and markets are now limited to revising rent no more than once a year," the minister said, adding that the amendments have been prepared to apply this rule to all retail facilities.
