KAZAKHSTAN-KTZ-RAILCAR-RESTRICTIONS

Kazakhstan imposes 10-day ban on loading foreign railcars for domestic routesKazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the national railway company, has announced a temporary ban on the loading and processing of empty foreign-owned railcars for domestic routes within Kazakhstan from September 21 to 30, 2025.In a statement issued Tuesday, KTZ said the measure was necessary due to network congestion caused by a surge in the number of railcars on its infrastructure, which has reached approximately 94,500, negatively impacting traffic capacity. The company clarified that the restriction does not affect the loading of such railcars for export shipments or transit traffic through Kazakhstan. The temporary ban is designed to alleviate pressure on the rail network, which is struggling to manage the current volume of cars.
