PKP Cargo sees potential in hydrogen. The PKP Cargo Group's activities in the field of hydrogen currently focus on projects related to the future use of this fuel in locomotives. The first priority is its use in shunting locomotives, and in the longer term also in mainline locomotives. The second area of interest is the potential production of hydrogen from renewable energy installations and the possibility of its subsequent resale. The railway carrier argues that it has the infrastructure facilities that could facilitate the construction of such installations. In PKP Cargo's opinion, a development of hydrogen market in Poland is of significant importance for the decarbonisation of transport, including rail freight transport. On the other hand, PKP Cargo notes that it is not possible to completely phase out diesel locomotives at present. (ICE VARSAVIA)
