IRAN, EURASIAN ECONOMIC UNION SIGN ROADMAP FOR FUTURE COOPERATION

Bilateral exchanges between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union have increased almost 16% since May 15, 2025, when a free trade agreement came into force.Moscow, IRNA – Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) have signed a three-year cooperation roadmap in Moscow during the first meeting of their joint committee overseeing a free trade agreement signed in December 25, 2023. The document was signed by Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mohammad Atabak and EAEU Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev on Wednesday.“At today’s talks, we outlined the general framework for future trade and economic cooperation between Iran and the five member states of the Eurasian Economic Union within the roadmap,” Atabak told reporters. He said the session also reviewed past cooperation and future prospects, with 16 subcommittees presenting their reports.The roadmap, covering 2025–2028, sets out conditions for implementing the free trade deal and expanding collaboration in areas such as infrastructure, logistics, road and maritime transport, customs and digital trade, Atabak added.Slepnev, for his part, said the free trade agreement with Iran, which came into force on May 15, 2025, has already boosted trade, with bilateral exchanges up about 16% compared with the same period last year.He expressed hope that the upward trend will continue through the end of the year.
