Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) sales in Indonesia saw a significant boost in August 2025, reaching 6,341 units. This represents a 16.7% increase from the previous month, far outpacing the national car sales growth of just 1.5%. This positive trend pushes total BEV sales for the first eight months of 2025 past 48,000 units, well on track to surpass the 2024 total of 43,188 units. Gaikindo's Chairman, Jongkie Sugiarto, attributes this growth to the increasing variety and affordability of electric vehicles.
