POLISH COMPANIES ACQUIRE IN GERMANY AND US

Polish International Development Fund (FEZ) is co-financing an increasing number of acquisitions of Polish companies in the US and Germany. These are usually projects in the industrial, food processing and IT sectors. “Most of them were carried out in the European Union, because that is where domestic companies initially focused their investments. In the US, our entrepreneurs more often opened sales and distribution companies. Now they are starting to take over local businesses”, says Marek Buczak, director of FEZ management department at PFR TFI. The United States is the main destination for global foreign investment, attracting USD279bn in 2024. Recently, the Trend Group, a glassworks from Radomsko, bought the German Gala Group. It is a manufacturer of candles, home fragrances and home decorations, with factories in Germany, Poland, Hungary and India, employing 4,000 people. The transaction was financed by the CVI fund and the Polish Development Fund (PFR). It is rare for a Polish company to take over such a large German group. (ICE VARSAVIA)
