POCZTA POLSKA AND ORLEN ENTER INTO COOPERATION IN A PARCEL MACHINE SECTOR
InPost is the clear leader on the domestic parcel machine market, but other courier companies are also installing such machines, and Allegro is working with some of them to create an alternative network. Orlen has built a strong position in this segment in just a few years – stronger than the state-owned postal operator – Poczta Polska. On Friday, two state-owned companies, Orlen and Poczta Polska, announced the signing of an agreement “setting out the framework for strategic cooperation” in the courier sector. Initially, Poczta Polska is to acquire a minority stake in Orlen Paczka. “In the next stage, parcel machines owned by Poczta Polska will be transferred to Orlen Paczka, which will allow for measurable synergies from the combined courier businesses to be achieved in the short term. Ultimately, Poczta Polska will be able to acquire 100 percent of the shares in Orlen Paczka”, Orlen said in a stock exchange announcement. (ICE VARSAVIA)
