Tokayev welcomes Italy’s plans to boost exports to KazakhstanPresident of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said Monday that Astana and Rome can expand cooperation across several key sectors, including petrochemicals, engineering, transport, and logistics."We welcome plans to further increase exports to Kazakhstan. I see great opportunities in such areas as critical raw materials, petrochemicals, engineering, transport and logistics, light industry, food production, artificial intelligence, finance, tourism, and education," Tokayev said during talks with Italian President Sergio Mattarella in Astana.Over the past 20 years, Italy has invested up to $7.5 billion into Kazakhstan's economy, with 250 Italian companies currently operating in the republic, according to Tokayev."Our mutual trade is progressing steadily. We are bound by strong economic ties, and in many areas we are achieving tangible results. As president, I am ready to make my personal contribution to strengthening our relations," the head of state said.He added that Italy remains a "close and time-tested strategic partner" of Kazakhstan in Europe."Our multifaceted cooperation is based on a solid political dialogue, a dynamic economic partnership, and active cultural and humanitarian ties," the Kazakh president said.Mattarella welcomed the prospect of deeper economic engagement and highlighted opportunities for broader cooperation."We believe we have every opportunity to enhance our relationship. Italy is already very active in your country, but we can strengthen our presence here. And I believe our relationship can continue to grow," the Italian president said."I would like to thank you for this dialogue, which is a demonstration of good relations and friendship between Kazakhstan and Italy," Mattarella added.
