CEPA WITH CANADA, EU STRENGTHENS INDONESIA'S GLOBAL TRADE

Trade Minister Budi Santoso announced that the recent signings of the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) and the Indonesia–Canada CEPA (ICA-CEPA) mark a crucial step in strengthening Indonesia's global trade position. The IEU-CEPA, signed on September 23, 2025, commits both parties to eliminating tariffs on over 98% of goods, covering nearly 99% of import value. Indonesia aims to increase exports to the EU by 2.5 times in the next five years, focusing on labor-intensive sectors like palm oil, textiles, and footwear. The ICA-CEPA, signed on September 24, 2025, grants preferential treatment to over 90% of Indonesian tariff lines in the Canadian market. Santoso expressed optimism that this deal will open market access to North America. Indonesian exports to Canada totaled US$3.5 billion and to the EU totaled US$30 billion in 2024.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/383129/cepa-with-canada-eu-strengthens-indonesias-global-trade-minister (ICE GIACARTA)
