KAZAKHSTAN-BTC-PIPELINE

Kazakhstan ships 0.9 million tonnes of oil via BTC pipeline in 9 months, expects 1.2 million for 2025Kazakhstan has shipped 900,000 tonnes of oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in the first nine months of 2025 and expects the full-year volume to reach 1.2 million tonnes, the head of the national oil and gas company said Thursday.Askat Khasenov, chairman of KazMunayGas (KMG), announced the figures on the sidelines of the 16th Eurasian KAZENERGY Forum in Astana. He added that "Kazakhstan is now negotiating to significantly increase these shipments, with discussions focusing on a range of 1.5 million to 2.2 million tonnes."The BTC pipeline, which stretches 1,770 kilometers from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean port of Ceyhan in Turkey, plays a strategic role in helping Kazakhstan diversify its oil exports. KMG and Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR signed a transit agreement in 2022, followed by a new deal in 2024 that outlined plans for a phased increase in shipment volumes through Azerbaijan. The pipeline has an annual capacity of 50 million tonnes of oil. (ICE ALMATY)
