QazaqGaz forecasts 25% growth in Kazakhstan's gas production by 2030 to 74 bln cubic metersGas production in Kazakhstan may increase from 59 billion cubic meters in 2024 to 74 billion cubic meters by 2029-2030, the press service of the national company QazaqGaz JSC reported.According to the press service, Alibek Zhamauov, CEO of QazaqGaz, presented the production forecast at the session "The Future of Gas: The Key to the Energy Transition" as part of the XVI KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum on Friday."Gas production in Kazakhstan may increase from 59 billion cubic meters in 2024 to 74 billion cubic meters by 2029-2030. The growth will be ensured by the commissioning of new fields and increased production at existing assets," the statement said.Zhamauov outlined a number of reforms aimed at improving the sustainability and transparency of the gas industry. These include: approval of new gas consumption standards for households; introduction of automated metering systems with remote data transmission; establishment of long-term gas prices for petrochemical projects; simplification of the procedure for transferring gas supply facilities to QazaqGaz balance; and reduction of barriers for small businesses to connect to gas networks.According to the press service, 65.9 billion tenge has been allocated from the republican budget for the gasification of the country in 2025. Additionally, the Samruk-Kazyna fund has allocated 46.5 billion tenge. As a result, in 2025 about 292,700 people in 29 settlements will gain access to gas, and the gasification level will increase to 63.8%.To ensure uninterrupted supplies, major infrastructure projects are being implemented. In particular, the construction of the Taldykorgan - Usharal main gas pipeline, costing 131.7 billion tenge."These measures will increase the efficiency and reliability of the industry, ensure stable supplies for the population and industry, and create conditions for strengthening Kazakhstan's energy stability," Zhamauov is quoted as saying in the statement.QazaqGaz JSC is the national operator for the exploration, production, transportation, processing and sale of gas and gas products in Kazakhstan. The company is part of the sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna , manages the country's gas transportation system and implements regional gasification projects. (ICE ALMATY)
