INDONESIA TO LAUNCH WASTE-TO-ENERGY PROJECTS
Indonesia is set to inaugurate eight waste-to-energy (WTE) plants in late October as part of a broader initiative to address its growing waste problem and promote renewable energy. Spearheaded by the sovereign wealth fund Danantara, the country ultimately plans to build 33 WTE facilities nationwide, each capable of processing 1,000 tonnes of waste daily with an investment of up to 3 trillion IDR (approximately 180 million USD). With only 60% of its 35 million tonnes of annual waste currently managed, the WTE program aims to offer a sustainable, long-term solution. These WTE plants are expected to significantly reduce environmental impact by cutting greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80%, generating up to 15 megawatts of electricity per facility, and minimizing land use by 90%. The initiative not only tackles waste management but also contributes to Indonesia’s transition toward cleaner energy sources.Source: https://en.vietnamplus.vn/indonesia-to-launch-waste-to-energy-projects-post329785.vnp (ICE GIACARTA)
