INDONESIA EYES EXPORT BOOST THROUGH GLOBAL TRADE DEALS

Indonesia is intensifying efforts to expand its export markets through new international trade agreements, particularly targeting sectors like automotive manufacturing. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that these initiatives align with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to boost export quotas and open access to new markets. Speaking at the “3 Million Exports from Indonesia” event hosted by PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), Hartarto cited Indonesia’s upcoming accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) as a key opportunity to penetrate markets such as Mexico. He expressed optimism that trade deals like CPTPP, CEPA, and other Free Trade Agreements could help dismantle import quota barriers that currently restrict Indonesian goods. In addition to CPTPP, Hartarto highlighted the recent finalization of the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) on September 23, 2025, which is expected to significantly boost bilateral trade. During the launch of the EU Investment Desk, he projected that the agreement could increase Indonesia’s exports to the EU by 2.5 times, with total trade volume potentially reaching $60 billion and export growth exceeding 50 percent within three to four years. These developments underscore Indonesia’s strategic push to strengthen its global trade footprint, supported by robust domestic supply chains and targeted policy frameworks.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/385197/indonesia-eyes-export-boost-through-global-trade-deals-says-minister (ICE GIACARTA)
