VIETNAM AND SINGAPORE BOOST BILATERAL INVESTMENT AND TRADE AMBITIONS
Vietnam and Singapore held their 19th Connectivity Ministerial Meeting (CMM) on October 10 to strengthen bilateral trade, investment, and innovation partnerships. Co-chaired by Vietnam’s Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang and Singapore’s Manpower Minister Tan See Leng, the meeting explored cooperation in key sectors including infrastructure, energy, logistics, digital transformation, and education. Singapore remains Vietnam’s second-largest foreign investor with $87.6 billion in cumulative investments. Both sides welcomed milestones such as the launch of an off-airport cargo terminal, Shopee’s new sorting centre, and Keppel’s Saigon Centre Phase 3. They also advanced discussions on offshore wind energy, cross-border QR payment systems, and semiconductor training. The meeting highlighted joint initiatives on sustainable agriculture, tourism connectivity, and digital innovation, including agreements on Halal certification and digital transformation. These efforts mark a deepening Vietnam–Singapore partnership toward green growth, regional connectivity, and high-tech collaboration. The 20th CMM will be held in Singapore. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
