INDONESIA SHOWCASES LOCAL FOOD PRODUCTS AT FAO EXPO IN ROME
Indonesia is showcasing its diverse and sustainable agricultural products at the From Seeds to Foods exhibition hosted by the UN FAO in Rome, October 10–13, 2025. Featured items include organic rice from Java, kepok bananas from East Java, salak from Bali, and sago from Papua. These offerings highlight Indonesia’s long-standing collaboration with FAO since 1948 and its commitment to modernizing agriculture. Initiatives like the OCOP program have supported banana farmers in Lumajang, while a sago processing unit in Sentani, developed with FAO and New Zealand, empowers indigenous communities. The salak agroforestry system in Karangasem has earned recognition as Indonesia’s first FAO-designated Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System. Acting Agriculture Ministry Secretary General Ali Jamil emphasized the country’s focus on food self-sufficiency, biodiversity preservation, and global market access. He invited international partnerships to help unlock Indonesia’s agricultural potential. FAO’s Rajendra Aryal praised the nation’s blend of traditional practices and innovation as a model for community empowerment and global food security.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/385737/indonesia-showcases-local-food-products-at-fao-expo-in-rome (ICE GIACARTA)
