INDONESIA SECURES US$17.4 BILLION SUSTAINABILITY INVESTMENT PLEDGES
Indonesia has secured US$17.4 billion in investment commitments for sustainability initiatives during the 2025 Indonesia International Sustainability Forum, signaling strong global confidence in the country’s green transition. The forum, organized by the government and business lobby Kadin, resulted in 18 MoUs and letters of intent spanning sectors like the blue economy, industrial decarbonization, and waste-to-energy. Notable collaborations include business group APINDO, Standard Chartered, Conservation International, and Konservasi Indonesia on seaweed development, and Saudi energy firm ACWA Power with Pupuk Indonesia on decarbonization efforts. A major focus is Danantara’s waste-to-energy program, which aims to convert waste into electricity across 33 cities, with 10 prioritized for initial rollout including Jakarta. The initiative has drawn interest from 192 companies worldwide, and will be financed partly through Danantara’s “Patriot Bonds,” which have already been fully subscribed. The state utility PLN will purchase the electricity generated, marking a significant step toward addressing Indonesia’s waste crisis while advancing its sustainability goals.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/indonesia-secures-174-billion-sustainability-investment-pledges (ICE GIACARTA)
