INDONESIA TO STOP DIESEL IMPORTS BY 2026

Indonesia plans to stop importing diesel fuel by the second half of 2026 as it prepares to implement the B50 biodiesel mandate, which blends 50% crude palm oil with 50% fossil diesel. The government is currently in the final stages of testing the B50 blend across various vehicles and machinery, including ships, trains, and heavy equipment. This testing phase is expected to last six to eight months, after which the policy will be officially enacted. The B50 initiative is part of Indonesia’s broader strategy to achieve energy independence, reduce reliance on imported fuels, and boost the domestic palm oil industry. By replacing imported diesel with locally produced biodiesel, the country aims to save approximately $10.84 billion annually starting in 2026. Between 2020 and 2025, biofuel use already saved Indonesia $40.71 billion. Currently, diesel imports account for about 10.58% of national demand—roughly 4.9 million kilolitres—which the B50 program is expected to fully offset.Source: https://en.vietnamplus.vn/indonesia-to-stop-diesel-imports-by-2026-post330351.vnp (ICE GIACARTA)
