SINGAPORE ECONOMY GROWS 2.9% IN THIRD QUARTER, BETTER THAN EXPECTED
SINGAPORE - Singapore’s economy grew by 2.9 per cent from a year earlier in the third quarter of 2025, moderating from the 4.5 per cent growth in the previous quarter. The performance was better than expected, beating economists’ forecast of 2 per cent growth in a Bloomberg poll. On a quarter-on-quarter seasonally-adjusted basis, the economy expanded by 1.3 per cent, slightly slower than the 1.5 per cent growth in the second quarter. The manufacturing sector’s growth was flat in the third quarter, slowing from the 5 per cent expansion in the previous quarter. Growth was weighed down by lower output in the biomedical manufacturing and general manufacturing clusters, even as the output of other manufacturing clusters expanded. But on a quarter-on-quarter seasonally-adjusted basis, the manufacturing sector grew by 6.1 per cent, a turnaround from the 0.7 per cent contraction in the second quarter. https://www.straitstimes.com/business/singapore-economy-grows-2-9-in-third-quarter-mti-advance-estimate (ICE SINGAPORE)
